Jay Beckett is soon to release his upcoming mini-documentary, “Madame, The Life Of A Drag Queen”, based on the life of Madame LaQueer.

Los Ángeles, California – May 04, 2022 – After “Say Grace”, fast rising indie filmmaker Jay Beckett is back with a new mini-documentary this May. Based on Carlos Melendez aka “Madame LaQueer”, the upcoming film explores the life of the former contestant of RuPaul’s Drag Race (Season 4).

Titled “Madame, The Life Of A Drag Queen”, the film is scheduled to premiere on May 6, 2022, at midnight.

The mini-documentary is being produced by Jay’s film production company, namely 2nd Act Films

Always a dedicated champion of the LGBTQ community, Jay is committed to bring more awareness and inclusivity for the community through his films. His recent release, “Say Grace”, was also themed on the LGBTQ community.

“Madame, The Life Of A Drag Queen” explores the childhood and challenges of a gay man, and how the character of Madame LaQueer helped Carlos became the person he is today.

“I wanted to give light to the life of a contestant who didn’t win the crown (at RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 4). I wanted to learn about their struggles and how all of these played into creating a Drag Queen character. It has been both a fascinating and inspiring experience to work with Madame LaQueer; we had an amazing learning experience and I wish to share Madame LaQueer’s rise against all adversities through my new film”, stated Jay while speaking about his new mini-documentary.

Carlos Melendez aka “Madame LaQueer” is a Puerto Rican drag queen who claimed fame with her gorgeous screen presence at RuPaul’s Drag Race (Season 4). Her current official name “Madame LaQueer” has been coined with two words- Madame and LaQueer (French for Queer).

Carlos derived the first part of her official name, “Madame”, from the name of the famous Puerto Rican soap opera (Telemundo) character of the same name. The character was extremely dynamic, a villain, and the powerful queen of a brothel. Interestingly, the popular Puerto Rican actress who portrayed the role of “Madame” in Telemundo was a family friend with Carlos’ family.  The “LaQueer” part is inspired by “Queer as Folk”, Carlos’ favorite television show. Speaking about her name, Carlos, had stressed that she always wished for a name that won’t sound too feminine but would rather portray a man who loves to dress up as a woman. The French part, “La”, was added to make it sound more poetic.

While approached further about his upcoming film, Jay shared that the film looks into not only the past and present life of the stunning Drag Queen but also her future plans and aspirations.

“We sit with Drag Queen personality Carlos Melendez, AKA Madame LaQueer from RuPaul’s Drag Race. They will tell us a little bit about their past, present, and what the future holds for Madame LaQueer.”
