VSA, Inc.’s Investment in Cloud-Based Technology Pays off During Covid Crisis

April 03 04:06 2020

Apr 2, 2020 – Haddon Township, N.J. – In a whirlwind few weeks, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced large-scale shutdowns of schools, businesses, and public institutions across the world — including in New Jersey, where a state of emergency has forced many of the state’s thriving companies to close.

Not Camden County-based VSA, Inc., though.  Instead, the firm’s proactive adoption of cloud-based technology has allowed it to shift seamlessly to an entirely remote business — an inconceivable feat for a company which, for almost 20 years, has considered the fact that all of its employees were working together in the same office a competitive advantage.

VSA provides lead generation and appointment setting services for companies nationwide. Its staff of Business Development Reps (BDRs) makes outbound calls to find qualified prospects.  VSA’s business has grown significantly since 2016 as a result of high demand for qualified sales leads, especially by SAAS-based software companies. Unlike other firms in the industry, VSA uses a team-based staffing model in order to avoid burnout and reduce turnover.

“We’ve always been adamant about keeping all our BDRs together in the same place,” says Valerie Schlitt, VSA’s president and founder. “Our tight-knit teams are a tremendous asset. At the same time, we’ve strived to be proactive, think outside the box, and prepare ourselves to face unforeseen circumstances.”

It was with that mindset that VSA embarked on a full technology overhaul, beginning in 2018.  The project included enhancing digital communication tools, setting up systems by which some managerial work could be done remotely, and migrating most of the company’s essential data onto the cloud.

As a result, the company’s been able to rearrange their entire call center operation in response to the statewide shutdown — ensuring both employee safety and client satisfaction. This is particularly important in such a moment of nationwide crisis, when governments and companies have an increased need for mass scale, remote communication.

While VSA’s healthcare and education clients have largely paused work, the base of other clients of this lead generation firm has remained.  VSA has not noticed a drop in production nor have BDRs heard negative feedback about their calls.

“This is an unprecedented moment when almost all industries are shifting simultaneously to remote work,” Ms. Schlitt reflects. “I’m proud that we’ve been so proactive and can support our clients during this shift. After all, our work itself consists of connecting people over long distances. It’s the very definition of remote.”
