China’s fujian province: Taste tea together, share beautiful life

Fujian is a major province for tea production and consumption in China, with a history of more than a thousand years for growing and drinking tea. With a long history of tea production, Fujian boasts profound tea culture. There are wuyi rock tea, Da Hong Pao, Oolong tea and Tieguanyin tea.

 

The research and development process of Fuzhou jasmine tea has been listed as a representative project of national intangible cultural heritage, and 17 tea items, including the production technique of Tanyang Gongfu Dangui tea, have been listed as an intangible cultural heritage project of Fujian Province. Fujian has cultivated 6 representative inheritors at the national level and 34 representative inheritors at the provincial level, promoting the transmission of rich and diverse tea making techniques from generation to generation.

 

Now, tea industry has become an important advantageous characteristic industry in Fujian. In 2019, the output value of the whole tea industry chain of Fujian reached 120 billion yuan, and the export value of tea reached 24,000 tons, 455 million US dollars, accounting for 22.5% of China’s tea export value. In the first half of 2020, Fujian’s tea exports overcame the impact of the global epidemic and increased by 11,800 tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.9 percent. In the per capita disposable income of rural farmers in the main production counties of tea in the province, tea income accounted for more than 40%. It will become an important source of income for farmers and an important industrial support for winning the battle against poverty.
