Derrick Whitsett Announces Release of His Debut Children’s Book - "Aarav's Note" - Receiving Rave Reviews
The protagonist is a 10-year-old prodigy. Aarav is tired of his boring life, controlled by his mother. But things take a turn once his mother’s rival shows up to wreak havoc. Will he be able to find his way back and save his mom….

Bronx, New York – August 2, 2021 – Thousands of Children’s Books are published every year. Yet only a handful have that magical touch that reaches a child’s heart. Beautiful illustrations help stir the child’s imagination in Derrick Whitsett’s new book, “Aarav’s Note”. This is a fantastic book for parents or other family members to sit and read together. One cannot help but becoming engrossed in Aarav’s story.

The book opens with some background into the main character. Aarav Craig was a very talented boy who lived in one of the greatest cities of the world – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Growing up, Aarav showed to be a tad bit different from the other kids his age. For starters, his name Aarav means “well poised and at peace with himself”. Which fit his personality; you see, Aarav was also a child prodigy. Aarav is considered one of the greatest pianists and saxophonists of his generation. However, at the age of five, Aarav’s Dad, who was born in New Delhi, India, passed away for unknown reasons. Aarav was devastated.

His mom, Imani, was a funny, intelligent woman who was considered to be one of the world’s greatest pianists too. She began encouraging her son to be a better musician when she saw the unusual gift of his. Unfortunately, people who look like Aarav will often get ignored and have to work harder to get recognition. Yes, because of his age his music made him extremely popular on social media.

He spent hours perfecting his instruments every day after school, instead of hanging out with children his age. This sometimes made him miserable and often wished that he had just quit and become a normal kid. One day after school, a few kids invited him to a video game party. Everybody was going to be there and this was his chance to just be natural. But it was not meant to be as his Mom dashed his hopes and embarrassed him in front of his peers.

The story continues to develop with a fantasy twist. His mom has been made sick by an evil figure and Aarav must meet the challenge and show who is the best piano player. Other fantasy figures enter the story and there is a message to be learned. Read it and be entertained.

Readers have commented that they felt as if the author was in the room reading them the story.
